Description

This half-day training will begin with an overview of the unique characteristics of students with autism spectrum disorders and how these traits impact their academic, behavioral, and social performance in the general education classroom. The rest of the session will focus on various evidence-based practices educators can use to support the successful inclusion of students with ASD.


Course Outline

1. Understand the various strengths and needs of students with ASD.
2. Learn ways to use positive behavioral interventions and supports to address challenging behaviors in the classroom.
3. Learn ways to increase the academic engagement of students with ASD.
4. Learn ways to address the social and communication needs of students with ASD.
