Description
This community of practice will work to gather the best online resources, programs, and/or software for the elementary math classroom(s). The group will determine which tools are best for teaching and learning math at the elementary level, support district initiatives and vision, and improve identified areas of weakness. The group will make recommendations to the office of instruction and the department of technology regarding which resources and/or software should be supported by the district.
Course Outline
Participants will...
- Engage in a virtual meeting prior to summer institute to clearly communicate the group's goals
- Work collaboratively in person or virtually (to be determined by the group) to achieve these goals
- Take part in online discussions or collaborations with the group
Other
- Participants should be familiar with math standards and curriculum
- Participants should be familiar with online resources and/or tools and feel comfortable using them or testing them
- Participants should be familiar with student data and areas of strength and weakness
