Description
Teachers know best about what works in the classroom. This is why the standards establish what students need to learn, but they do not dictate how teachers should teach. Instead, schools and teachers decide how best to help students reach the standards.
The state does not mandate the use of any particular curriculum. As always, teachers can develop their own lesson plans and choose materials; however, curriculum must be aligned to the appropriate grade-level standards. Recommended units and lesson plans are available. SDOC instructors will develop guidelines for creating, evaluating, and prioritizing instructional materials and curricula.
