From Special Educator, to Principal, to Assistant Superintendent, to Executive Director of a therapeutic school for middle school boys, Kathy Whitmire has used her expertise in brain research to make a difference in teaching, learning, and parenting. The recipient of many awards, including National Distinguished Principal, Kathy travels across the country speaking and presenting workshops on the neuroscience of learning. Her program for dealing with emotional regulation has been used in schools to reduce discipline issues and empower children and adolescents with strategies and tools to manage their 'emotional brains'.Author of ‘Messy or Neat- It’s a Brain Thing’ and published in the Palmetto Leadership Magazine, “Closing the Achievement Gap with Brain Compatible Leadership”, Kathy Whitmire has received specialized training in brain research with leading neuroscientists. Brain Gyms, Play Attention, Sensory Motor Labs, and Heart Math are just a few of the programs in which Kathy has been trained.

Course Outline
The Participant will be able to: Identify educator teaching styles and their impact on student learning stylesIdentify the neuro-physiology of the adolescent brain
Identify the neuro-physiology of emotions and emotional regulation
Implement tools, strategies, and programs to effectively develop self-regulation skills in adolescents in order to maximize learning
Identify variables that contribute to learning such as Learning/Teaching Styles, stress, gender, Adaptability Quotient, Dominance Factor, etc.
