Amplifying Content Area Literacy in Social Studies: Grades 6-8

Description

In this interactive session, participants will learn about how to increase the content area literacy in their social studies block using researchers workshop structures, inquiry, and intentional transfer of practices from reading and writing workshop into social studies.  We will be leaning on our own collective understanding about how best to make this instructional shift and take the first steps in creating some lessons in which students become engaged leaders of their own learning.
