Full course description
The Assistive Technology (AT) team will demonstrate assistive technology software and features available to students and teachers to increase accessibility in the learning environment. The session will focus on features regarding read/write technology, such as immersive reader and chrome accessibility. The AT team invites all teachers, staff, and administrators to participate and have hands-on interactions with the devices and supports. The session will include discussions of the types of students who benefit from assistive technology in the classroom setting and sample lessons/skills appropriate for integrating assistive technology. By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to: (1) describe the difference between low-tech, mid-tech, and high-tech assistive technology devices, (2) state the purpose of using assistive technology to support student learning, and (3) name five ways they can use assistive technology to support students in their classroom setting.
