This session is an introduction to application of Tier One behavior support strategies expected of all teachers in all classrooms based on MTSS models of prevention and intervention practices for academic and behavior support. Content will include universal effective and efficient behavior management systems and practices that will increase classroom achievement. Teachers will learn and be able to apply eight evidence-based practices that will immediately improve or enhance the classroom environment in elementary, middle, alternative educational, and high schools in Oconee County. In this session specific practices for supporting whole classroom and individual student attention, on-task behaviors, classroom communication and instructional engagement will be demonstrated. Participants will learn simple and efficient data collection methods that are easy to implement and analyze when making decisions about an individual student or classroom behavior support needs. Topics will include classroom systems and practices for managing annoying vs. disruptive surface level behaviors, disrespectful and aggressive communication, out-of-seat behavior, interruption and off task comments among others.
