Course Description
This course is an overview for a career involving livestock production in the Southeast. Subjects include basic anatomy and physiology, nutrition, feeds, safe handling, housing needs, behaviors, diseases, parasites, and general management of livestock species, including horses, dairy and beef cattle, hogs, sheep, goats and poultry. The course includes hands-on opportunities for students to work on the school farm with live animals, as well as leadership development, a school-to-work experience, scholarship competitions and FFA.
