Course Description
This course features the history of food and explores the cooking, health, and storage that connect science to daily encounters with foods. Food safety practices are taught, as students examine the helpful and harmful effects of microorganisms. Students evaluate the impact of science and technology on the food supply as well as investigate how the scientific process is used to develop new food products. Basic math and technical writing skills are gained while participating in real-world cooking exercises.
