Course Description
English I Honors is a course for the student who plans to attend a two- or four-year college after high school. Students study the various literary genres within themed units. Compared to English I CP, the Honors curriculum is very rigorous and contains some challenging and controversial literature with both timely and timeless themes and motifs. Prior knowledge of grammar, mechanics, etc., is built upon so that the student may begin composing more sophisticated written pieces. The South Carolina State Standards for English/Language Arts (adopted spring 2015) are addressed in preparation for the South Carolina End-of-Course Examination.
