Course Description
Art 4 begins with teacher directed study based on the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design but moves into student independent study of a concentrated theme. The curriculum parallels the Honors (Gifted & Talented) course and the AP course. Realistic and abstract forms are studied along with a focus on design elements. Famous artists and movements are looked at throughout the year. Projects and assignments demand greater evidence of mastery of subject and content than previous courses with the intent of expanding the student’s portfolio. Weekly sketchbook assignments encourage skill development.
