Engaging Students in Meaningful Text Analysis

Throughout this session, teachers will learn practical instructional strategies to reinvigorate and streamline their reading and writing instruction. These strategies center on keeping the big picture of literacy in mind so that every experience with reading and writing leads the student to the text, the head, and the heart. Teachers will leave with simple, pragmatic tools and resources that foster students’ critical thinking within and beyond literary and informational texts, helping them to generate meaning from what they read, and igniting the curiosity to ask, “How does what I have read change me?”
