Instructor: Dr. Lisa Raiford, Office of Special Education Services, SC Department of Education
Session designed to provide paraeducators with an in-depth understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), the characteristic behaviors associated with ASD, and evidence-based strategies relevant to improving behavioral, social, and communication outcomes for individuals with ASD. Discussion includes the role of the paraeducator for individuals with ASD, understanding appropriate social communication and behavior strategies, and maintaining data. A workbook is provided for each participant as they experience the session with hands-on activities, practice opportunities, and take-aways.
