Full course description
Target Audience: All teachers
Presenter: Sydney Anderson, an educational interpreter at Blue Ridge Elementary
We will be exploring what it means to be a Deaf student in the classroom and about the Deaf community. We will start at the beginning with the ABC's and 1,2,3's and then go into common words and phrases you will need in the classroom. I will also give tips and resources for what to do if you have a Deaf student in your class. You will benefit from this class even if you never have Deaf students, especially in younger grades the students benefit from signing even if they are hearing. This class will require participation and practice but it will help you in the classroom and also in your daily activities.
