Full course description
Target Audience: Teachers who have a basic understanding of fingerspelling, numbers and at least 20 commonly used signs in ASL
Presenter: Sydney Anderson, an educational interpreter at Blue Ridge Elementary
ASL 2 is a continuation of ASL 1. If you have a background in ASL but did not take ASL 1 with me, you are still welcome to sign up for ASL 2. You will need to feel comfortable with your ABC's and numbers and some basic signs. We will dive more in depth into Deaf culture and the grammar of ASL. Our focus will be conversational and receptive skills. I will also give tips and resources for what to do if you have a Deaf student in your class. You will benefit from this class even if you never have Deaf students, especially in younger grades the students benefit from signing even if they are hearing. This class will require participation and practice but it will help you in the classroom and also in your daily activities.
