Book Clubs: It's Never Too Late to Start! (SDOC Elementary Reading Institute)

This workshop will focus on helping teachers learn specific teaching ideas for integrating book clubs into their instructional routines at any grade level.  Many times teachers veer away from attempting book clubs in their classrooms because it is so unfamiliar. They have doubts and concerns about book clubs, and that is understandable. This session will provide all the nuts and bolts for creating and managing successful book clubs, giving you essential strategies to make book clubs work and help students fall in love with reading. It's never too late to start! Participants will each receive a copy of the professional text Breathing New Life into Book Clubs: A Practical Guide for Teachers by Sonja Cherry-Paul and Dana Johansen. You will need to have that book available for this session.
