Full course description
Are you making the most of your running records? If not, or you aren't sure, then join this session to take a deeper look at literacy processing. During our time together, we will examine how to analyze errors and self-corrections AND how to use the information to make informed instructional decisions that accelerate student progress. C.C. will specifically address topics like what to do when students guess or invent text, how to build and support phonics and decoding knowledge during reading, and how to teach for phrasing and fluency. Running records are so much MORE than an accuracy rate; they are an oral reading assessment that can truly power instruction for K-2 and striving 3-5 students. Participants will each receive a copy of the text The Next Step Forward in Running Records: Getting to the Heart of Effective Instruction Through Deeper Qualitative Analysis by Dr. C. C. Bates, Maryann McBride, and Jan Richardson. You will need to have that book available for this session.
