Description

This course will provide an overview of theories and research related to reading and writing within school disciplines. The course will also provide classroom teachers with opportunities to explore specific reading and writing strategies to help students learn all content information as they are developing as readers and writers. Teachers will learn ways to design disciplinary-specific instruction to scaffold literacy learning for students. Special emphasis will be placed on integrating informational texts and teaching students to construct knowledge through reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
