When Readers Struggle (SDOC Elementary Reading Institute)

This workshop will focus on helping teachers learn specific teaching ideas for helping students in kindergarten through Grade 3 who are having difficulty in reading and writing. This full-day workshop will provide detailed information about the instructional contexts that will help students become successful. Participants will learn ways to support students during small-group intervention and individual interactions during reading and writing, as well as strategies for whole group instruction. Participants will each receive a copy of the text When Readers Struggle: Teaching That Works by Irene Fountas and Gay Su Pinnell. You will need to have that book available for this session.
